Ashley First Swim at the Eden Pool

Ashley had her first dip in the Eden pool on 11 July, 1 week after she had started solids. Her gymboree swimsuit was for 6-12mths and it was kind of loose on her little body. Initially, she was a little hesitant and made a few noises when I put her into the pool. Perhaps, it was the coldness of the water as it rained earlier in the morning. But she got better when I put her in the really lovely float. Ashley has always like swimming, as seen in the way she relaxes during her daily bath as well as the swim tub that we have at home.

Unfortunately, the same can't be said for gor gor Ashton. He has always been afraid of the water and has improved recently. He even asked me to bring him swimming whenever he sees kids swimming in the pool from our windows. Sigh sigh, Ashton's papa bought him a new dolphin float and it was supposed to make his swimming experience fun but never did we know that it is so unstable that Ashton would fall off the float and straight into the water. He was totally submerged and although hubby pulled him out almost immediately, the fear of water has gripped him. Ashton couldn't stopped crying and kept asking for mummy to carry him. I carried him and he was able to sit on the edge of the pool playing with the water. But I guess it will take a much longer time now for him to overcome the phobia of water.
