This was a rather last minute travel that we booked only in June, not the most ideal location and I went with the lowest expectation to minimize disappointment as I heard from an ex-colleague that Tioman is not nice and the beach is dirty after I have paid for the trip. The package included return flight on Berjaya Air which is the only airline that flies to Tioman and two nights at the Berjaya Resort inclusive of breakfast and dinner. For a family of four, we paid about $1.5k which is fairly reasonable I guess.
The trip started with a flight delay :( Our flight was supposed to take off at 13.55 but when the gate opened about 30minutes before the flight departure time, our plane was no where in sight! It was changed to 14.45, something very common with budget carrier, I was told.
It was a 40minutes flight and Tioman 'airport' really just look like a shed.
Day 1 when we arrived, it was about 4.30pm and the hotel bus took us from the airport to the resort. We were lucky that both the Tans and Foos got a chalet that has connecting rooms! The kids were thrilled as this meant they could run from room to room, dirtying our beds and messing up the place. Annie and I both found potato chips on our once nice and big King sized beds. Once we settled in, it was time to hit the swimming pool! The pool was pretty crowded and its really hot, we left after a short while and washed up ready for our BBQ dinner. Food selection was great...they really prepared a lot of food. Its either we were very hungry or the food was nice as all we could remember was that each of us piled our plates really high. Ok, the kids were the exception, they hardly ate.

Lawrence was very keen to book a boat to Coral island where we can snorkel and thank God the Tans decided to go along with it. So, the entire gang went to pay for the trip which cost us SGD200 for a 4-hour trip. Thereafter, it was leisure time, we went to the games room where the guys played couple rounds of pool and the eventual winner is Mr Tan! The stake?? Hoegarden...which is great. So all of us headed to where the music was and ordered our drinks while the kids munched on the nuts. Yes, they had all the unhealthy food during the trip but its a trip right?? Kids need to relax too.
